Bright Flight Paragliding offers Tandem Paragliding in Bright, Victoria. Bright is a 3 hour drive from Melbourne which lies in Victoria’s High Country. If you ever wanted to experience tandem paragliding in a beautiful mountainous setting, this is the place for you!

What is Tandem Paragliding?

Paragliding is an adventure sport that allows a person to be airborne with a foot-launched glider aircraft without a rigid primary structure. Paragliding is one of the purest forms of aviation, as it relies on weather and thermals to be able to stay in the air for minutes or hours at a time.

When you do Tandem Paragliding you are taken into the air by an experienced tandem pilot. The tandem licensing process in Australia takes a minimum of  5 years and many hours of experience. The tandem pilot is in control of the glider, while the passenger can enjoy the views and the feeling of being in the air, held aloft only by fabric and strings. No experience is needed to be the passenger in a tandem paragliding experience and only a few steps are to be followed to safely take to the skies in Bright, over Victoria’s High Country.

We aim to cater for anyone, however Accessible Tandem Paragliding has it’s limits for now, as Tandem paragliding does have some physical and safety requirements. Head to our Accessibility page on our website to learn more about what we can offer:

When is the best time of year to Tandem Paraglide?

The ideal season for Tandem Paragliding is Summer, although each season comes with it’s little perks. At the end though it is the daily weather that will determine whether is going to be a great flying day or not. Generally speaking we are after light winds, sunny days with a few cumulus (little fluffy clouds) clouds.

Spring

Early Spring offers views of snowcapped mountains of Victoria’s High Country and green valleys. However the conditions can still be very light and sometimes very cold. This can make it tricky to get up high in thermals. The spring rains can still make Tandem Paragliding a little more tricky to book in, but when it is flyable the views are amazing!

Summer

Summer is the ideal season for Tandem Paragliding as the weather is more consistent, warmer and sunnier with generally lighter winds and stronger thermals.

It can be a reprieve to escape towards the clouds in a tandem paraglider on a hot summers’ days and an amazing place to cool down a little. Towards the end of summer the valleys tend to brown off, however the views over the mountains remain beautiful.

Autumn

In autumns Tandem Paragliding allows you to see the colourful deciduous trees of Bright and the Victorian High Country from above, admiring a view that is not very common in Australia. Thermals are starting to settle down a little, but the air is generally very smooth.

Winter

Although winter still offers the occasional day to go paragliding, they are few and far between and the lack of thermic uplift has us usually searching for warmer climates overseas. It is the perfect time to plan your next paragliding adventure, so you are ready for when spring comes around again.

You may have already tried mountain biking, hiking climbing and abseiling and now you are looking to get some more airtime.
